Emulation,inspiration and example

04/02/10
Completed morning program.Visited the Supreme Court for professional work. The distinction between emulation, inspiration and example is brought out clearly in the editorial of the Indian Express dated 3rd February,2010.The emulation refers to creation of a circumstance with the object of producing a desired result.Inspiration refers to a philosophy and is psychological in nature. And example is what one sees as he watches a person and absorbs his good and bad habits. After my address to BED students at Sardar Patel BED college Farooq Nagar,Haryana on the Republic day 2010,some of them who interacted with me said that they were quite inspired by my talk and replies to their questions.I remember some journalists writing in different news papers and magazines of Assam and Meghalaya, during my tenure as an IPS officer there, branding me as a role model for the force to emulate. But I think one should not emulate another.He/She should adapt himself/herself to others rather than emulate them in toto.Their individuality is relevant and could not be written off.
Retired to sleep at 2300 hours.
