Due to odd-even restriction on vehicle movement, could not go out nor there was need to. Worked from home. Left for Vikaspuri for week-end after 8 pm when the restriction was lifted.

Completed morning program.
Visited SBI and CSOI. In the Supreme court from 2.45 to 3.45 pm. As Thapa, our driver, will be on leave for a month from 1st May, tested a new driver, provided by a guild of drivers, to take his place. Found him fairly good. He will join us from 1st May. His wages will comparatively be less thanThapa's.

Came back to VV. In the Supreme court from about 2 to 3.30 pm. Along wth Advocate Atiar attended a conference in the Taj hotel with a client.

25th April

Completed morning program.
Looked up VP Singh (70), a neighbour , who injured himself by falling in the toilet about a month back. He was hospitalized for about a fortnight. He is recuperating now in a ground floor flat of his relation. He could not go up to his 3rd floor flat.
Spent the day reading newspapers/book reviews at Barista. Did not go to the Supreme court due to odd-even vehicle movement rule.

Spent the day reading newspapers and magazines. Did not go out. It was a hot day. Went out only to Barista in the evening for a cup of coffee. I like ambiance of the place.

In the Supreme court from about 1 to 3 pm. Spent about an hour at CSOI library.
Our friend SK Bagchi, a retired 1963 batch IAS officer  passed away yesterday. Another senior retired IPS officer, Mihir Barua  also died yesterday. Both belonged to Assam/Meghalaya cadre. Attended their cremation at Lodhi road crematorium. Drove to Vikaspuri for the weekend.

Completed morning program. Accompanied Arsipso delegation to present a copy of book on Police Reforms, published by the Association, to the Vice President of India. We had lively discussion on the subject for about an hour and also on how to go about for implementation of the Supreme court  judgement.

The courts are closed due to Mahavira Jayanti. Attended marriage of the daughter of Jt Director CBI, RP Agarwal, an officer of Assam/Meghalaya cadre. We worked together in Meghalaya. Met a number of AIS officers of the cadre and of CBI too. Spent some time in CSOI library.

Completed morning program.
Due to odd-even rule in force in Delhi, could not take out my vehicle. Had to hire a taxi to come to the Supreme court and back. It was quite hot during the day, over 42 degree Celsius.

Completed morning morning program.
Appeared in Dwarka court in the matter of Mrs Ramesh Chandra. The case adjouned to 28th April. Drove back to VV in the evening. Venita stayed back at Vikaspuri for preparation to clebrate Hanumanjayanti on 22nd April. She is to pray in particular on the day and recite Hanumanchalisa for the welfare of Abhishree, Babloo and Ruchi as advised by the astrologer.

Odd-even vehicle rule is in force today. The first day is for odd number vehicles. I could not ride my vehicle today. It carries an even number. If the odd-even rule is enforced on a regular basis, we may have to buy a second vehicle.

Completed morning program.
Courts are closed due to Baisakhi festival and Ambedkar birth anniversary. "Baisakhi is a Punjabi harvest festival for people of the Punjab region. This day is also observed as a thanksgiving day by farmers whereby farmers pay their tribute, thanking God for the abundant harvest and also praying for future prosperity."

Visited Agnihotri, a friend. He looks to be bent a bit. He said that that was the observation of some others also. Discussed misc. matters. His office is located on  Paschimi Marg, my office-cum-residence on Poorvi Marg. He said he could visit my office-cum-residence next day before 11 am.

About a couple of hours were wasted due to technical flaw in Photon. Could not use it till about 1 pm today. It is the Sony service center on Jail road which made it functional.
Drove to VV.  Venita stayed back. It was the 4th day of Navratri.

Attended a talk by Shrimati Vijay Lakshmi Hota on Yoga at CSOI in the evening. Bought a copy of her book,'Yoga,diet and ailments'. Venita observed 3rd day of Navratri with puja, Ramayan path, havan etc..

Completed morning program.
Went to CGHS. Attended Second Friday 1964 batch April lunch at Kasturba Gandhi marg CSOI. There were 11 batch mates at lunch : 1 of IFS, 4 of IAS, 3 of IPS, 1 of Indian Information Service and 2 of other services. The constitutional crisis in Uttarakhand was under heated discussion. I joined the batch lunch after long absence.

Babbloo,Neha and Akshat attended  Sangeet ceremony during Neha's cousin's marriage in California on 2nd April (a photograph of the trio, taken on the occasion , is given below ). They are in USA these days and will return on 6th instant. 

Attended a talk on on 'Eating habits and Health' by Suresh Chandra Goel at CSOI in the evening.

Completed morning program.  Spent the day reading magazines and newspapers. Felt nice to come and stay here for the wek-end. Vikaspuri has become a kind of country house where you could come and relax. We hope to maintain it.

1st April

Completed morning program.
Ruchi left at about 3 pm IST. Her flight was delayed by about one and a half hour. Reached Hethrow at about 7 pm GMT, o15 hours ISD of second April. Dr Prasad and Mrs Prasad had also come to airport .Amolikaa and Ruchi were pleasant during their short stay in India. Amolikaa loves to do what she likes to do. Difficult to put her on any structured schedule of work. I read her diary for first two day stay in Delhi. She had not devoted her full attention to writing it. Her writing should improve. One has to try various tactics of love to make her do things which are necessary for her to do for over-all development.
Went to CGHS. In the Supreme court from about 2.30 to 4 .30 pm. Drove back to Vkaspuri in the evening for the week-end.
