Lord Justice Taylor judicial inquiry found failure of police control in Hillsborough stadium disaster in April 1989 when 95 football fans were crushed to death. The 28 year campaign for justice was carried on by victims' families. New inquest concluded on April 28 2016 found that football fans were unlawfully killed. On June 28, 2017 the Chief Superintendent of police, match Commander, former Yorkshire Police Chief Constable and four others are charged with offences relating to the disaster. Victims' families felt : 'this was the real beginning of the end.'

We visited our friend,Richard,85,an Englishman at Winchester in the forenoon.Our friendship with him is now about 37 year old. We met him in March 1980 during deputation to UK's Bramshill Police college for Intermediate Command course with British SPs. On return to London, wrote them :

It was touching to see you in your habitat,beautifully maintained with flowers.vegetable garden and lawns. We can never forget veg. lunch, served to us and your courtesies to come,receive and see us off at Winchester railway station. You gave us VIP treatment. Your kind treatment to Seema was unique. God will bless you for it.. We were not aware of all those good things done to her. We express our deep gratitude and thanks to you and Janet for the same.

Dr Prem Srivastava came with his daughter and a friend.  Prem is the husband of my cousin, late Madhu, (Mausi's daughter), who died over a month back. She was a surgeon in NHS. She died of brain ischemia, a kind of heart stroke of inter-brain region. His local number is +447908631632. Her elder daughter's name is Parul.  Her younger daughter's name is Sonal. 4 terror incidents in last 3/4 months have shaken British society. Every bit of London Bridge, Manchester attacks and ploughing into pedestrians at Finsbury park is sickening. Flexible working is a path advocated to trust and well being, not an escape route. Extra protection to mosques is to be provided as May vowed to fight extremist ideology of all kinds.
Mixed and tolerant community is left appalled due to the incidents.

18th June :Champions' trophy

Witnessed Champions' trophy on Oval ground in London. It was quite humid  and hot. We sat through the game. Indian batting as well as bowling were not quite satisfactory. Pakitan was superior in both the fronts.Pakistan won with big margin of runs. My son, Amitabh , said that had India played first the result could have been different. May be, as India had to lose it all happened like that.

Vikas came along with his son , Nikhil. We had Nespresso  coffee. Ruchi works in Nespresso company . He brought some precious gifts for Pilku/Ruchi.
According to a report, a labour leader suggested to seize rich empty homes to house the survivors of Grenfell tower fire. It is further said that the failure to pay heed to multi-ethnic face of London shows to all and sundry the development of rich south and poor north.

Record terror arrests have been made till March 2017 as Jihad plotters stayed at home. It is further reported that  up to 2,50,000 dropped off the radar and ended up as illegal immigrants. Grenfell fury spilled on streets. Another report asks why banks sided with crooks. Banks delays and refusals to act on fraud gave con-men the time they needed.

Pakistan defeated England yesterday and India Bangladesh today in ICC Champions Trophy semi-final . India and Pakistan will now meet in the final at Oval on Sunday the 18th. We are lucky to have  tickets to witness the match.

Boarded Emirates for London. After over 9 hours in the sky and stay of about 2 hours at Dubai for change to A800/500, we landed at London Gatwick airport. While flying we saw Rustam, Buddha in traffic jam and Ye jindigi, fairly good movies. We have not seen movies for years. Curiously we have been seeing them on air when we travel to Pilku.
The flight landed on time and we reached home at about 9 pm.Everyone was thrilled to see us. So were we.

Long walks, Starbucks coffee, chats, pleasant weather are the main features of our relaxed living in London.

After loss of majority, Tories are trying to settle down. They have aligned with the Northern Ireland Democratic Unionist Party to prop up majority. May was given a loud show of support as she pledged to rectify her blunders. Vilification of DUP is the latest sign that faith is viewed with hostility by the liberal electorate.
Labour and conservatives held talks on soft Brexit.
Retirement is not just the option in British society.
A research has shown that going to sleep and waking at approximately the same time is as important as number of hours one sleeps.

Celebrated  Abhishree's birthday at Zero hours. Hosted dinner for Abhishree. Read out a poem, written by me on her first birthday.

Venita undrwent Carotid Doppler test at Max hispital. Diabetes consultant desired to see the result on 7th when we meet her a second time. The cardiologists advise Carotid Doppler test periodically to know the health of the heart. Vital organs of the body : heart,kidney,eyes etc.are hit hard by uncontrolled diabetes.

Before departing for London shortly, Venita desired to meet her diebetes consultant, Dr.Anoop Mishra. As he was available only on 13th June, we met Dr Amrita Ghosh, his junior. She examined her in details and advised. In earlier visits to London Venita remained normal perhaps due to company of her son and grandchildren.
