29th May

Completed morning program. It is quite cold today. We went to buy morning newspaper from a shop near Wimbledon Park. On way back, had a cup of tea in the Park cafeteria. While sipping tea we noticed black clouds covering the sky. We walked back to the house. Cold winds hit us to shiver. By the time we reached, it started drizzling. We cancelled our plan to lunch out and spent the day playing games with children. Went for a walk again in the afternoon when children cycled out . Ruchi accompanied them and took Cookie too. Later took out Venita for a walk for about 45 minutes in the evening. Retired to sleep at 10.45 pm.

26th &27th May

 27th
Had a long walk in the area which is  green and forested. It was quite cold, windy but sunny.  Spent the day with grand children. Their schools are closed from today for a week. Watched them playing tennis with Pilku in the Wimbledon park. Amolikaa went to stay with her friend. She will comeback tomorrow. Retired to sleep at 11 pm.

26th
Left for London by Virgin Atlantic flight 302. It was neither very warm nor very cold. It was 30 degree Celsius when we landed. It was pleasant. It took a little over 9 hours. During the flight, saw Life of Pi and Lincoln and  on the recommendation of Venita, Burfi too (after she saw it in the flight). Curiously, i saw movies last in 2011 and that too during flight to London and stay with Pilku.

We came here to spend about 3 weeks with the grandchildren. Pilku has bought a new house on Bathgate road. It is situated in the backyard of Wimbledon courts in South-West London. Its location can be seen in the Google map. It has a beautiful and spacious garden. Although it is much bigger and well furnished, but its construction is not so compact and planned as that of his Engandine street house where we stayed during the visit in 2011. Retired to sleep at 10.45 pm.

24, 23 and 22 May

24th
Completed morning program. Visited SBI. In chamber from 2:15 to 4.15 pm. The Sony service centre handed over the laptop after repairs. My all personal data is gone, though I did not have much of it in the laptop  as I have used it only for a few months. I got it in Oct. 2012. I keep most of  the data in desktop. The technician advised me that I should scan and update the laptop every two three days for 15 minutes. It is a good preventive against virus which corrupts the Windows.  He explained   the process  of scanning and updating. Shri Vaibhav is the technician at the Sony Service centre, Jail road. His mobile no is 9958008792. He suggested that we should periodically transfer and store the data in a separate Disk/CD also for its protection against virus and corruption. My desktop is also corrupted. The technician who checked the desktop said that new Windows were required to be put in it. My personal data will, however, remain  unaffected in the process. He is charging Rs. 1000/- for it. I did not have to pay for repairs to the laptop as it is covered by warranty.  Retired to sleep at 10.30 pm.

23rd
Completed morning program. Visited CGHS and SBI. In chamber from 2:30 to 4pm. The Laptop broke down when I was about to send blog dated 22nd May. I had to give it to the Sony Service Centre for repairs. Retired to sleep at 11 pm.

22nd
Completed morning program. Visited CGHS. In chamber from 12:45 to 5.15 pm.
Legality of action against cricketers for betting and match fixing is being questioned. Although sections of IPC relating to criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy have been added apart from cheating, but the plausibility of the same is likely to be examined closely by the courts. If the courts do no accept the application of these sections in the existing circumstances, the cricketers and bookies will be released on bail. In that event, the whole facade of action against them and media hype will tantamount to 'much ado about nothing'. The offences under the Gambling Act are all bailable. The Law Minister's statement for the need to have a Special Law to deal with match fixing and betting is significant.
Retired to sleep at 11.30 pm.

21st May

News of the day: The Chinese Prime Minister and IPL match fixing dominated the news during last week. The joint statement after the visit of the Chinese PM does not refer to recent Chinese incursions in Ladhak area, though it is mentioned that the ties between the two countries cannot improve unless there is peace on the border. There is talk of enactment of a new law banning betting and match fixing.
Retired to sleep at 11 pm.
