Completed morning program. Spent the day reading newspapers and magazines. Venita spent much time towards organizing Shrimadbhagvat Katha near the society temple. It is to start from 12 to 18th April 2015.

Completed morning program.The ninth manifestation of Goddess Durga is Siddhidatri, worshipped on the ninth day of Navaratri. Maa Siddhidatri is believed to have supernatural healing powers. 
Ramnaomi, birth anniversary of Ram , is also celebrated today. Venita got 4 big fresh flower pretty garlands, one each for Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman, Ram Parivar idols of the Society temple.

Completed morning program. In the Supreme court from about 1 to 4 pm. The Supreme court library was full watching semi final between Australia and India. Initially the match was going in favour of India. Later it was collapse of the Indian team. India lost to Australia by 95 runs.

A friend sent a mail on '15 Amazing 'Foreign' Places You Can Visit In India', which i circulated to friends and relations. I wrote to my friend : " We have visited quite a few of these places. A few remain. We can plan to go to these places in March or June or October or December when we have longer breaks. We have reserved March and October slots for Fatehpur where we enjoy lot of sunshine in a cool, pollution free weather with memories of having lived there in child/boyhood, good food and service. We will try them in June and December when there are extreme weather conditions at Delhi. Venita is also now attuned to these schedules, but still boasts of her good old childhood days in Verma family. It is quite natural. After my transfer from Dhubri to Guwahati in 1974, i was worried as to how children would adjust to new conditions of changed environment,she,like a true traditional Indian wife, had said that they would adjust anywhere with us around them. It had taken away much of my worry. The wives are great that way."

Completed morning program.Today was the first day of Navraratri. Mata Shailputri is worshipped on the day. Venita did Kalash Sthapna at home. She also joined in the ceremony of the society temple at 5.30 am. She fasted.
New Zealand stormed into cricket World cup Semi finals defeating West indies. Semi final between India and Australia will be played on  26th instant.

At Mumbai. Visited Siddhvinayak temple early morning. Gillo and Dinesh joined over lunch. They spent about 3 hours with us. Left Mumbai at about 7.45 pm, 45 minutes late. Reached Delhi at about 10.15 pm, over one hour late.

Left Delhi at about 7 am. Arrived Mumbai at about 9 am. Visited Shanno and Gopalji in the house of their son, Anand. Gopalji was hospitalised few days back for a couple of surgeries. He is recuperating these days at Mumbai.
We received a number of messages on our 48th marriage anniversary today. I took a snap of setting sun. We, like the setting sun, will continue to emit light and remove darkness till  final disappearance.

7th Maarch

Completed morning program. Yesterday tempo of Holi celebration was at low key. Due to Friday, local administration had restricted the celebration to individual homes up to midday. It could be celebrated publicly thereafter. It was done to avoid untoward incidents involving Muslims going to mosques for Namaj and Holi revelers. There being no restriction today, the whole vicinity is pulsating with songs, sprinkling of color and Holi din.
Ms Bhavna Srivastva, Principal of local Disability Institute came along with her husband and discussed problems of the Institute with Venita. Venita promised to help. Sarva Shri Ashok Srivastava, dropped in to wish happy Holi. Advocate Ajay srivastava came with his family,a customary visit during Holi.

6th March

Could not go for walk due to widespread sprinkling of color/water by urchins on the road,lanes/by-lanes in a cold morning. I avoided rubbing of Abir by the men at Holika Dahan and returned home at about 10 pm yesterday. Telephone calls continued from relations since early morning.
Advocate Shivji came with his wife. So also Advocate Ajay kumar and Vnay Prakash came. All came to wish happy Holi. We exchanged Abir. We could hear bouts of singing of Holi songs/dancing from all directions in the vicinity.
We are told that Holi celebrations will be much more aggressive/gregarious next day.

5th March

Completed morning program.Watched rising sun in a clear sky early morning for sometime.
Attended Holika Dahan in a place near our house at about 9'15 pm. It has been held at this place traditionally for many years.  As a boy I used to go to nearby forests to collect firewood for the occasion along with others of the locality in a bullock cart which a neighbor got from his village. The hoodlums, however, collected whatever they could lay hands on late night, chairs,benches cots and put them in the fire. We also lost once our big,very heavy bench which my father had kept outside the chamber for use of his clients. He was furious when he noticed it in the morning but could not do much about it.
 The priest did Puja. I attended the ceremony every year since early childhood. After the Holi fire we wished each other. In a gathering of about 30, there was only one person who was my contemporary. Sweets were distributed. We also contributed a sum of Rs 101/-for the occasion when the organizers called on us.

4th March

Completed morning program. Venita went for absolutely unnecessary shopping on a rickshaw. Attended a school function along with her. Had to stay there for about 3 hours. It was attended by about 3 to 4 hundred children and their parents. Children presented a saga of songs and dances. I also spoke of my years in a nearby school. I told them how i was caned once for doing one sum wrong, that i still remembered pain of it and that i did not commit a mistake thereafter. Children and parents heard me with rapt attention and applauded at the end.
The rain clouds having gone, the blue sky had a beautiful clear moon and sparkling stars. In Delhi very often we have an overcast sky due to reportedly high levels of pollution.

3rd March

Completed morning program. Carpenter,electrician and plumber did some minor works.
Advocate Digvijay Singh came.
Had to go out in search of an ATM as the one nearby did not have cash. There was one problem or the other in each of them including crowding in one place. Ultimately got one which gave me cash. This exercise took me round the town in a rickshaw. I did not plan it. I noticed new posh buildings had come up. Two big hotels and a couple of malls. Roads are potted and  in pathetic condition. All the time i was scared of getting cracks in my bones while travelling. I forbade Venita from travelling in a rickshaw on Fatehpur roads. If she could not contain her urge for shopping, i would get a taxi. She wanted to go shopping for cushions/curtains. I dissuaded her.

It was quite cold today too. Less than yesterday.

Completed morning program. Due to puddles of water on the road to park, could not go for walk. Walked in the house compound for about 40 minutes. Rain stopped only early morning. Again started in the evening. It was a very cold day. Few people on the road. Mostly stayed back home. Explained bits of work to the carpenter..

Completed morning program. The rain drizzled throughout the day. Could not go for walk. Shivji called on. Venita discussed holding of Srimadbhagvat katha in Oct.at Fatehpur. Later in the evening the Principal of a local school came and requested to be the chief guest in the School's celebration on completion of its 10 years on 4th March. Accepted the invitation. Observed Ekadasi fast. It is quite cold here today as if Christmas has arrived beforehand. Weather forecast indicates rainy day next day and cloudy weather thereafter.
