Planned quitting Driver's accommodation at Vikaspuri from next month as it is no longer required. It cost us over Rs. 40,000/-annually. Venita's visits to Vikaspuri were for 2/3 days in last three months. We thought that the driver  could travel back to VV after leaving Venita/me at Vikaspuri whenever we went there. It took 20 minutes during non-crowded hours/days and 40 minutes during crowded hours/days to drive to and back . He could come back  next day early morning to Vikaspuri so-on-so forth.

Central Govt in a circular said that some state Govts flouted rules issued under Section 35 of the Central Disaster Management Act. As our late English friend Richard's over 80 year old widow,Janet, in UK did not respond to telephone calls, we got worried. Later she wrote to us :

"Dear Venita and DNS

Anna tells me that I missed a call from you.  That is very sad  and I am sorry.

I am well and a little frustrated by all the restrictions on my movements.  But the weather has

improved so I can get out into my small garden.

My family are well.  So far Anna is able to jog and cycle around London;  she can do most of her

work from home.  Eleanor and Ralph can also work from home and both have volunteered to

help the elderly ( including me of course) with deliveries and shopping and anything that crops up.

How are you both?  The UK news from abroad  is mostly Europe-centric so I have not heard much

about India.  Are you being locked up/in too and do people obey?  And how is your family in

Wimbledon?  The Tennis is already cancelled!

As our late English friend Richard's over 80 year old widow,Janet, in UK did not respond to telephone calls, we got worried. We wrote to their daughter Anna (40) enquiring about her mother's welfare. Anna's workplace is quite far from Janet's home. In reply to my mail Anna wrote as follows:
"Dear DNS and Venita

These are trying times and I hope both of you and all your family are well.

Janet is doing OK and she is well to date.   While she cannot go out to the shops, she can be in the garden planting her seeds and can walk around the village.  I cannot travel to visit her but I phone her every day or every other day.  Ralph and Eleanor can do things for her but at a distance.   

I know that India has introduced some strict measures so I hope you will be protected.   As you know our prime minister has succumbed to the coronavirus and is in hospital. 

I wish you all the very best."
