As our late English friend Richard's over 80 year old widow,Janet, in UK did not respond to telephone calls, we got worried. We wrote to their daughter Anna (40) enquiring about her mother's welfare. Anna's workplace is quite far from Janet's home. In reply to my mail Anna wrote as follows:
"Dear DNS and Venita

These are trying times and I hope both of you and all your family are well.

Janet is doing OK and she is well to date.   While she cannot go out to the shops, she can be in the garden planting her seeds and can walk around the village.  I cannot travel to visit her but I phone her every day or every other day.  Ralph and Eleanor can do things for her but at a distance.   

I know that India has introduced some strict measures so I hope you will be protected.   As you know our prime minister has succumbed to the coronavirus and is in hospital. 

I wish you all the very best."
