Babloo and Neha were married on 28th April 1999. While Venita wished them,but i forgot. I wish them belated happy anniversary. They were engaged on 5th April 1999 We introduced them to each other on 1st August 1998.

Stories of dogs continue with a few more . .....One relates to Babloo. He was barked at by a lame dog when  he passed it on way back from school near home at Shillong in the afternoon. He used to throw stone to scare it against attack. One day he was ambushed by it and bitten in one leg. He had to take 9 anti-rabies injections.I don't remember if any one else of us was bitten by a dog. I was bitten by monkeys a couple of times in the roof of the house at Fatehpur when i went there for flying kites. My father did not give me anti-rabies injections. Only a paste of vermilion (a brilliant red pigment) and ghee was applied to the cut marks/wounds and that was all.

Three Dogs

We had three dogs after children were born. First,was an Apso,a Lhasa puppy,given by V.N. Sharma,the then SP,Tejpur in 1978. It was fond of children. It could not adjust in Delhi. A loving creature lost its balance in the new surroundings. It was injured in a hit by the watchman on its head at Pragati Vihar (where we lived for a couple of months on posting at Delhi before we were allotted a house) when it tried to bite him. It breathed its last only after Silku's affectionate touch as if it was waiting for it. Venita cried. Second,was a German Spitz,given by a local Assamese admirer. Pilku was fond of it and it was fond of him too. After lot of persuasion he agreed to part with it to his maternal uncle in 1983. Third, was a local breed,Jimi. It was fond of all and Silku in particular. We were at Rishikesh when it died in the lap of Shiva Mohan. Silku came from Gurugram and participated in its funeral at Vikaspuri. We did 'Tarpan' in the Ganges for peace to the departed soul. Earlier too we had couple of dogs at Fatehpur. I remember one,its name was Hira,a local breed,fawn coloured,very playful. A dependable watch dog too.

Quite a few Covid 19 cases are reported from our block in Vasant Vihar. Police are posted in front of one house each of street 7 and 8 to ensure so that infected people do not move out. Due to complete lock-down we are not moving out. Our driver has pass to go out for shopping as wanted by Venita,dispensary to collect medicine and other things. Zomato brings my coffee.

We had first dose of Covishield vaccine on 5th march. After calculation we find that we will complete 8 weeks after the first dose only on 4th May. We  have,therefore,decided to have the second dose after 4th May....Venita decorated her puja mandap with lot of flowers of different colors and celebrated Ram Naomi today.We did puja and distributed prasad to all.

My late father told me in March 91(when he was over 86 years) that different parts of his body had become weak. He did not seem to have strength in them. I told him that his face was shining and eyes were bright. About 20 days later on 6th April we were informed in the morning at Delhi that he was quite sick. I rushed to Fatehpur reaching there by the evening. But he had left us in the forenoon at about 12. The civil Hospital at Fatehpur said that nothing could be done there. My cousin brother and younger sister decided to take him to Kanpur for check-up. On way they noted that he was losing consciousness. In that condition he indicated to my sister to take out artificial teeth. Holding his head in her lap she told him to say 'Ram,Ram'. He continued pulsating. It disappeared after some time. Head was warm for quite some time. When i took his head in my lap at about 8 pm,it was still warm. As he did not have any disease, he fought to live as much as he could. But one cannot fight death.

It is quite a hot day today. Even at about 6 pm,it is above 37 degree. As driver took vehicle to workshop for repairs,we could not go out for miscellaneous work. From 14th April,we will be hiring a driver on hourly basis as per requirement as our driver is going on leave for about two months. We could complete medication in ENT of Primus Super Specialty hospital after 3 three visits. Although it was all cashless, a good deal of paper work had to be done.

Ruchi/Pilku organised Zoom Whats App family interaction on the 4th day of Dr.Prasasd's sad demise in which his dears and nears participated. Speeches by Ruchi and Pilku were touching. They came out from the core of their hearts. We are proud of them. Abhishree's poem was good and expressed love of a grandchild for him.

Dipu along with  Mrs Prasad returned Lucknow today in the afternoon after immersion of mortal remains of Dr. Prasad in  the Ganges at Varanasi.He will let us know details of further programs later. First such program, according to him,will be a 'Havan'.

Today is the 30th death anniversary my father. He had died on 6th April 1991. He was born on 24.11.1904 in Princely Estate of Kothi,Madhya Pradesh. His father,Late Gajodhar Prasad,was Divan (Prime Minister)of  Kothi Princely Estate. He died when my father was about eight year old. His education was funded by the King.He had his education at Allahabad and Kanpur. He graduated and obtained LL.B Degree in 1920 from Agra University. He served as District Magistrate in Panna Princely Estate,MP and later practiced as Advocate at Fatehpur. He owned agricultural land which gave good support to the family. Apart from his ancestral house in the village at Chakaskaran,he built his own house at Fatehpur. I was born in this house.

A decent farewell given to Dr. Prasad. Now further 13 day rituals/program will follow at Lucknow. Let us see if we are advised to participate in them on any given day.We are told that quite a few of the family at Lucknow are suffering from Covid.

Dr.Prasad,who was in critical condition yesterday, expired today early morning. He had cardiac arrest. Dr. Prasad was a thorough gentleman. He was well-read scholar of Indian history. An honest banker and an amiable person, he nurtured family values.He was loved by one and all. I will personalty miss him in my life. We pray for peace to the departed soul.
