Attended A.K. Dave (an IP Officer) Memorial lecture at India International Centre on " Developments in the Middle East / Iraq , the rise of ISIS and its implications for India's Security."The Speaker was a batchmate of IFS, G. Parthasarathy. He set the tempo for lively discussion. The current situation in the middle east is accentuated by interplay of international, local and other forces mainly for control over oil resources. Religion is being used to cement their strength by each in their own way to fight for their avowed objective. On the whole the situation is complex and there appears to be no immediate solution.
