Went for 45 minute brisk walk. It drizzled a bit. I carried an umbrella. It was useful. Visited Safdarjung Hospital and Meghalaya House. In chamber from 1.30 to 5.15 pm 

The main issues in the news these days are Gujarat Elections which are to take place on 13th and 17th December. Hectic canvassing is going on. Mutually recriminatory speeches are being given by leaders of different political parties. The expenditure of about Rs.120 crores by Walmart to get multi-retail opening in India is the subject of much debate and attack on Congress by the opposition parties. There is a demand for inquiry by  an independent agency to find out the individuals who were paid in the process. The BSP chief Mayavati has reportedly threatened UPA with adverse consequences unless it ensures passage of Constitution Amendment Bill permitting quota in promotions. It is being opposed by SP tooth and nail.
