In the Supreme court in the afternoon.
Mrs Kanchan Bhattacharya, first woman IPS officer who retired as DGP Uttarakhand, died yesterday after prolonged illness in a private hospital at Mumbai.
I condoled her death to the bereaved family. I did through a former CBI officer,Samaria, her friend and prayed for peace to the departed soul. I did not know her address. We worked together in CBI for a couple of years at Delhi.
28th
Venita went to Vikaspuri in the morning to participate in the Chhathi puja of Krishna, done on 6th day his birth. In the Supreme Court in the afternoon.
27th
Wished  happy birthday to Silku on his 49th birthday. Pilku/Ruchi too got married on this day. Wished them happy anniversary.
26th
Celebrated 80th birthday at home. Venita lit 80 lamps in the evening.

Sri Krishna janmashtami celebrated on 2 days this year.
22nd
Took membership Hyatt Regency club on insistence of Venita. It gives the advantage of rebates on food and beverages. She wanted a joint where guests could be taken for dinner/luncheon occasionally.
Chidambaram was granted CBI custody for 4 days for interrogation..

In the Supreme court in the afternoon . Venita went to West Side for shopping. She bought me a new dress for birthday. She has programe of puja on 26th and lunch with Sunita/Anita/families, lunch with Silku and family on 25th and lunch with Munna and family including Gita's on 31st.
High court rejected anticipatory to Chidambambaram in a criminal case. He has appealed in the Supreme court against it.

15,17,18 and 20th August

15th
Heard full speech of PM Modi from 7.30 to 9 am. Illustrious and inspiring.
17th
Dr. Anoop Mishra, reputed diabetician  reviewed Venita papers of last three months. Changed some medication.  Sugar is now under control.
18th (Sunday)
Along with Venita attended birthday celebrations of Alaynah at Gurugram. These were advanced by a day to avail of Sunday.
Alaynah was born 19th August at Gurgaon, Haryana, 9 years back. According to Indian calendar, it was Navmi, Shuklapaksh, Shravan, Vikram Samvat 2067,11 am, Thursday, corresponding to  Gregorian calender's 19.08.2010 . We blessed her for long, happy and healthy life . She is sweet and loving.
Of the 10 friends invited by her, only 6 turned up. There was  cutting of cake, hurray, noise and Happy birthday song followed by lunch.

12th
As per prior appointment ,met Doctor Varma, senior neurologist at Apollo hospital. He went through data on blood pressure recordings and said that they were good. He called us for review after 3 months.
13th
Pakistan is not getting support from any quarters against India's abrogation of Article 370. They are likely  to move the Security Council in this regard.

5th Aug
Doppler carotid test was done at AIIMS.
Wished happy birthday Gopaji, my younger sister's husband.
6th Aug
Showed the Doppler report to Dr S.B. Gaikwad in his chamber at AIIMS. He advised to continue with the prescribed medicines.
7th Aug
Had to cancel Venita's appointment with Dr. Anoop Mishra, Specialist in diabetics as we had to leave for cremation at Jaipur next day. Kaushal Saksena ,our Samdhi and batchmate. had expired in the afternoon due to sudden cardiac arrest.
8th Aug
Left Delhi at 9 AM. We could reach the crematorium after his body had been put on pyre and lit. We saluted him and prayed for the peace of departed soul. His brother had lit the pyre in presence of his friends and relatives. His two daughters including my daughter-in-law Neha, grandson Akshat and son Parikshit also witnessed the last rites. Came back to the police guest house and after change and rest visited family of late Saxena at their house and conveyed our condolence. A number of friends and batch mates rang up to convey their condolences to the Mrs. Saxena. She is shaken and much disturbed. We consoled her. She was inconsolable.  We prayed for strength to her to bear her loss. 
9th
Spent time with the family reminiscing about late Kaushal' qualities and loving nature. Left Jaipur at about 2 pm. Reached Delhi at about 11 pm.

25.26,27,28,29,1st and 2nd August

25th
Met Prof. & Dr. Manjari Tripathi, Neurologist AIIMS, She suggested DSA for further consultation. In the mean time she advised continuance of medicine as prescribed. On her reference, met Prof. S. B. Gaikwad,HOD, neuroradiology and discussed details of the case with him. He too advised continuance of the medicines. He further asked to repeat Doppler carotid test after 3 months.
26th
Took Venita to Centre for sight for checkup of her eyes. She is called by the Dr. Dinesh Talwar of Centre for Sight after 4 weeks again. I have been taking Venita to Centre for sight.now over 10 years  It has kept her eyes somehow in good stead.
28(Sunday)
Vikas invited me and Venita for lunch. There was havan . A number of  people mostly his relations and friends were invited. Occasion was Grah-Pravsh to his new house.
1st August
Met Professor & Dr. Manjari Tripathi of Neurology and Professor S. B. Gaiwakwad  for further check up.
2nd  August
Went to AIIMS for  Doppler test. It could not be done as Resident doctors were strike.

21,22, 23 and 24 June

21st(Sunday)
Ruchi came to Delhi for a couple days. During stay she looked up her parents and stayed with them. She slayed for one day with us. Venita organised gettogether of children {Babloo/Neha/Akshat and others}at Gurugram. Others could not come due to heavy rain fall in the afternoon.
22nd
Voting for new Gvt could not take place in Karnakaka even today. 
23nd
Voting for new Gvt  took place in Karnakaka today. New Gvt  is likely to be formed within a day or two
24th
Ruchi left Delhi for London.

15,16,17,19, and 20th

17th
No decision is taken in Karnataka Assembly on the floor test. It appears that congress would not allow the floor test as  they are likely to lose the Government. How long the drama will continue is not yet clear.
18th
Karnataka matter is still in limbo.
19th
 BJP decided to physically live in Assembly till the matter was not decided by the Speaker.
20th
Attended the Executive Committee Meeting of ARSIPSO. We drafted the charter of work during the remaining months of the year.

7, 9, 12, 13 and 14 July

7th July

We all wished Happy Birthday to Rekha (Bitto) on the day. She is staying all alone at Kanpur after the death of my elder sister. She is managing a school at her place of stay. We last visited her in the month of May 2019 

9th July 

Attended the award ceremony in Shri Ram School at Gurgram along with Venita in which Akshat received awards for his academic and other achievements in 2018-19. His photographs taken on the occasion by his mother  in the school is given below :

12th July

Attended batch lunch at CSOI. In all 12th officers of different services attended. We had lively discussion on current issues including CBI raids on some Advocates for violations  in receipt of foreign donation. 

13th July 

There was an interesting program at CSOI. It related to a discussion on impact of social media in Hindi Sahitya. It was followed by recitation of poems by some Hindi poets. It could not attend personally. It was appreciated by all who attended.

Received visa for travel to UK. The visit to UK is still uncertain. It appears that we will miss ICC as well as Wimbledon  matches this year. We will also miss company of grand kids to Spain as planed. You propose and He disposes.

First budget of the 2nd tenure of Modi Government was presented in the Lok Sabha today. Widely acclaimed.
