1st July

Visited Amolikaa's school at Benenden town in Kent county, about 100 kms from London. It takes about an hour and a half to reach there by road. People prefer to travel to the place by road. Train connections are not convenient. The girls have to take taxi from the railway station for a about 7 km journey to the school. During the week end the school provides a lift to the railway station and back. It is a residential school. It is in scenic location in a big estate, lush green. We had picnic with the families of the students of the school, about 500 of them. It was Grand parents day. We noticed apart from parents, grand parents, even great grand parents were there, three generations all together. We saw the dormitory where Amolikaa resides. It is fairly well equipped. We had coffee in the dinning room of the school and picnic in the lawns. Pilku took us to all school departments for an over-view of the surroundings. Athletic events followed picnic : races, high jump, long jump, javelin & discuss throws and other events. Amolikaa won two medals, one for high jump in her group and relay races. It was quite cold and windy too.  At the end, we had sumptuous tea arranged by the school and a conversation with the school headmistress who had given away medals to the winners. We returned home at about 8 pm.
It was curious to know that people here do not cut trees and get their requirement of timber from outside.
